The Transformation of the ‘Ugly’ QR Code

Friday, July 3rd, 2009 by Julia Hyde

(This post can also be read on QReateBUZZ.)

Based on the feedback we’ve received about the look of QR Codes (apparently they’re ugly) we decided to see if we could take an ugly duckling and turn it into a beautiful swan. (Thanks to Philip Warbasse of Warbasse Design for the inspiration.)

Anyhow, here’s a couple of our new and improved QR Codes which we believe will look much better on an ad and could become a brand icon. They haven’t been checked on every phone so if you want to try it out on yours, go ahead and let us know. If you don’t have a QR Code reader you can download one at QRead.me, but be warned, this site is a work in progress… Read More

Clever Merchants Use Mobile Marketing and QR Codes to Communicate with Shoppers

Monday, June 29th, 2009 by Julia Hyde

Validating (to us anyway) our obsession with mobile marketing and, in particular, QR Codes, an article in today’s Insider Retailing suggests the world is taking a step closer to mobile communication and clever merchants are beginning to use it to attract and communicate directly with consumers while they shop.

It's Amazing What You Can Do with Lego

Now, while the idea is great (hat’s off to the person who came up with it) and I’ve no doubt the QR Codes worked in… Read More

Since the launch of QreateBUZZ we’ve been seeing more and more advertisers using QR Codes as part of their marketing. Of course, it could just be that we’re paying more attention but somehow I don’t think so.

Consider the following from the last couple of weeks

The Happening

A QR Code-to -movie trailer promotion for the movie, The Happening, a paranoid paranoid thriller about a family on the run from a natural crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity. Created by Warbasse Design for 20th Century Fox.
