The Transformation of the ‘Ugly’ QR Code

Based on the feedback we’ve received about the look of QR Codes (apparently they’re ugly) we decided to see if we could take an ugly duckling and turn it into a beautiful swan. (Thanks to Philip Warbasse of Warbasse Design for the inspiration.)

Anyhow, here’s a couple of our new and improved QR Codes which we believe will look much better on an ad and could become a brand icon. It’s interesting what a little airtime can do. Take Susan Boyle, the extraordinary singer who appeared on Britain’s got talent. This dowdy, middle-aged women went from total obscurity to international fame overnight. Just hours after her performance on the show, videos were uploaded to YouTube and watched by millions of people around the globe.

Now take the humble QR Code. This little known, but rather nifty tool has, much like Susan Boyle, has gone from relative obscurity to overnight sensation due, in part, to the creativity of Artist, Takashi Murakami and the envelope-pushing advertising of well-known brand, Louis Vuitton.
